Scrying

Scrying is a magical art with many possibilities.
This ancient act of divination for clairvoyance is usually achieved by concentrating on an object with a shiny surface until a vision emerges in the mind.
This can be done with mirrors, crystals, flames, stones, or gazing into water, ink and other dark liquids.
Start Scrying with Water
Make sure your working area is quiet and there are no distractions or possible interruptions. Clear your mind of clutter by spending at least twenty minutes in meditation. Then prepare for what you are about to do.
Some Scryers pour water into a black cauldron and drop in a silver coin to reflect moonlight. Or you could use a smaller black bowl filled with water indoors.
Water can be used straight from the tap, although water captured from a flowing source is better. Many practitioners say that the best kind of water to use is Moon Blessed. To obtain this, you need a gift of water. First take a bowl of water from a river, a creek, a spring or any flowing source, or catch a bowl of rainwater or scoop up a bucket from the sea. Place a bowl of this water in the moonlight every night for a whole lunar cycle.
The water can then be dedicated and blessed in whatever way you feel is appropriate, although I prefer to dedicate Moon water to the Goddess in one of her lunar aspects. Venus, for example.
Pour some water into the scrying bowl of your choice, and mix in some ink, watercolour paint or green food colouring until the water is dark enough to hide the bottom of the bowl. Place two candles as your source of light, but don’t have the light reflecting upon the water. You will be looking into the darkness, not the light patterns on the water.
Be very clear in your intention, and then focus on the water.
Using whatever technique of visualisation is appropriate for you, allow the energy of the water to fill your mind, and combine it with the focus of your intention. Remember, the connection that you need is with the energy of the water rather than the physical manifestation of that water.
The visions are not in the water itself, but within your own self.
